My basil Feta Salad is a great one to serve when company comes over because it is such an explosion of flavor. Delicatel lettuces with basil, pear, salty feta, sweet crunchy pecans, then coated with a balsamic dressing. Flavor heaven.
The greatest part of this salad is it nutritional value. Basil is a great medicinal herb used to help our liver detoxify and metabolize fat which in turn helps our bile and gallbladder function properly. This is huge for helping our metabolism run the way it is suppose to. Basil is an anti-inflammatory, which lowers inflammation, it is a disease fighting antioxidant..kills cancer cells from multiplying, it has anti-bacterial properties which protects against bacterial growth, contains antimicrobial properties that fight viruses and infections and more.... Who knew Basil was such a Ninja fighter!
Add the olive oil from the salad dressing, the crunchy pecan and heavens doors will open. Olive oil has polyphenols which have a ton of antioxidant properties that do everything from stall aging to fighting cancer and heart disease. It is shown to reduce visceral fat even when body weight remains unchanged.
1 cup Fresh basil
3 cups Organic lettuce
1/2 cup Feta cheese
1/4 cup Toasted pecans
Balsamic vinegar dressing
In a salad bowl combine the fresh basil leaves and the lettuce.
Add the feta cheese.
Mix the salad with Balsamic vinegar dressing and place on salad dishes.
Thinly Slice pear in 1/4 size pieces
Arrange pear slices around salad
Sprinkle with toasted pecans
